Curated stories on content marketing
When Medium announced a new feature allowing folks the ability to create curated collections of content, I created one called Content Marketing Edge. At first I created it to host content marketing related articles that I found interesting on Medium. There are some great articles chock full of tips and strategy and I wanted a place to collect them to read later.
A day or two after creating the collection and populating it with a few articles I started receiving email notices that other folks had submitted articles to my collection and that I needed to approve them. I quickly read the articles which were well written and had a content marketing focus so I approved them. Over the next few months I received from 2 to 5 articles per day from folks who wanted them to appear in the Content Marketing Edge.
Medium’s platform provides a powerful way to moderate a collection which by definition allows me to take on the role of an editor. I chose the topic content marketing because it fits with my role as CEO of Written which is a content marketing company that licenses proven content from bloggers to brands who struggle to create compelling content. In this new role as editor of this collection I’m able to curate a list of great articles from folks all over the world and it couldn’t be easier.
Medium is a new platform and I’m only now discovering how it is meant to be used. I often wonder if the product folks have a master plan for this service or if they are figuring things out as they go along. Either way I’m really enjoying my new role as editor and am looking forward to what they have in store for us in the future.
