I’m a sucker for product placements and I love to collect watches so when I see an actor wearing a cool watch in a great movie… here, take my money.
The problem with product placements in movies is that it is hard to find out more about the products. Watches in Movies solves that problem by being the encyclopedia of watches from movies. There you can browse by watch, movie or actor and they keep things up to date adding new movies as soon as they launch into the theaters.
Their business model is obviously a referral one and with suckers like me, business must be booming.
The Ventura Sigma watch worn by Nicolas Cage in Bangkok Dangerous.
I gots to get me a Ventura Sigma watch. Love that watch, hate the movie.
After I wrote this post, I was reminded that a Capital Factory incubated company called Equipboard plans to address this market. They allow folks to curate equipment boards which show the various equipment professionals use. In the case of watches and movies, the professional is the actor and the equipment is the watch.
