Steve Jobs must be rolling over in his grave. The newly released Apple Genius commercials that aired during the opening of the Olympics are offensive. They all show how a likable and quite funny Apple Genius helps ordinary folks with their computer issues.
My problem with this series advertisement is that they makes ordinary people look really stupid. In one commercial, a guy is deceived into buying a computer that looks like a Mac. Its only after the Apple Genius lists all of the great software that comes with a real mac that the person decide to return the fake one and get a real one.
The Verge said it best:
They feel intellectually cheap. We have no idea how these got greenlit, much less how the company decided they were worth paying for a fraction of the $1 billion NBC Universal made in Olympics-class airtime this year.
